Ansonia girls finish 3rd at Tiger Relays track and field meet

ANSONIA – The Ansonia girls finished third as Ansonia hosted the 10-team Tiger Relays track and field meet on Friday.

Covington won the girls portion of the meet with 95 points, South Adams was the runner up with 81 points, and Ansonia finished third with 77. Arcanum placed fourth with 62 points, Franklin Monroe was fifth with 47, Houston finished sixth with 44, Bradford was seventh with 33, Tri-County North finished eighth with 30, Tri-Village was ninth with 12, and Union City finished 10th with 11.

South Adams won the boys meet with 88 points, Houston finished as the runner up with 82, Covington was third with 67, Arcanum finished fourth with 64, Ansonia was fifth with 55, Tri-County North placed sixth with 51, Franklin Monroe finished seventh with 39, Union City was eighth with 32, Bradford finished ninth with 21, and Tri-Village was 10th with 2.

All of the races on Friday were relays, and all the field events were scored as relays by combining individuals’ scores.

Arcanum won the girls shot put as Erica Zimmer threw a meet best 40 feet 2 inches and Michaela McGaffic finished third with a throw of 34 feet 10 inches. Franklin Monroe finished third in the girls shot, Ansonia finished sixth, Bradford finished seventh, and Tri-Village finished eighth.

The Arcanum boys finished second in the boys shot put behind South Adams as Mitchell Sink finished second with a throw of 43 feet 10 inches and Dan Dendler finished sixth with a throw of 38 feet 3 inches. Ansonia finished third and Franklin Monroe finished sixth in the boys shot.

The Arcanum boys finished third in the boys discus throw behind South Adams and Tri-County North with Isaiah Krause finishing third with a throw of 115 feet 4 inches and Mike Johnson finishing fifth with a throw of 106 feet 8 inches. Ansonia finished sixth in the boys discus while Franklin Monroe finished seventh.

Arcanum won the girls discus throw as Erica Zimmer finished first with a throw of 124 feet and Michaela McGaffic finished fifth with a throw of 100 feet 8 inches. Franklin Monroe finished second in the girls discus, Ansonia finished fifth, and Bradford finished seventh.

Ansonia won the girls long jump with Lydia Sink finishing first with a jump of 15 feet 11 inches and Bailey Stammen finishing fourth with a jump of 14 feet. Bradford finished second, Tri-Village finished fourth and Franklin Monroe finished fifth in the girls long jump.

Ansonia finished second in the boys long jump as Dane Wentworth and Devyn Sink tied for fifth with a jumps of 18 feet 1 inch. Franklin Monroe finished sixth, Tri-Village finished seventh, and Bradford finished eighth in the boys long jump.

Ansonia finished second in the boys high jump with Austin Alexander and Trevor Alexander tying for third as they both cleared 5 feet 10 inches. Franklin Monroe finished third and Bradford finished fifth in the boys high jump.

Ansonia won the girls high jump with Lydia Sink and Aliya Barga both tying for first by clearing 4 feet 10 inches. Arcanum finished third in the girls high jump and Bradford finished sixth.

Arcanum won the girls pole vault as Marina Mahaffie tied Ansonia’s Stefani Garrett for the individual win by clearing 8 feet 6 inches and Isabella Whiting finished third by clearing 8 feet. Ansonia finished second in the girls pole vault.

Arcanum finished second in the boys pole vault with Luke Cetnar and Dylan Burns tying for sixth as they both cleared 9 feet 6 inches. Ansonia finished fourth and Franklin Monroe finished sixth in the boys pole vault.

Ansonia’s quartet of Bailey Stammen, Katie Werts, Stefani Garrett and Lydia Sink won the girls shuttle hurdle relay in 1:12.22. Tri-Village finished fourth, Franklin Monroe finished fifth, and Arcanum finished sixth.

Franklin Monroe’s squad of Bailey Wyan, Alex Knepshield, Jordan Rhoades and Nate McMillan finished fifth in the boys shuttle hurdles relay in 1:19.18. Ansonia finished sixth.

Ansonia’s team of Katie Werts, Amber Bergman, Skyler Marker and Aliya Barga finished fourth in the girls 4×800 meter relay in 11:25.69. Arcanum finished fifth, and Franklin Monroe finished sixth.

Arcanum’s quartet of Isaac Stephens, Dan Coats, Tanner Delk and Justin Vanatta finished second in the boys 4×800 meter relay in 8:56.88. Franklin Monroe finished fifth, Ansonia finished eighth, and Tri-Village finished ninth.

Bradford’s team of Maia Stump, Christian Crosby, Destiny Otte and Karmen Knepp finished third in the girls 800 meter sprint medley relay in 2:05.72. Ansonia finished fifth, Franklin Monroe finished sixth, Arcanum finished seventh, and Tri-Village finished ninth.

Arcanum’s Luke Cetnar, Marcus Plessinger, Daniel O’Donnell and Austin Gibboney finished second in the boys 800 meter sprint medley relay in 1:42.63. Ansonia finished fifth, Bradford finished sixth, Franklin Monroe finished seventh, and Tri-Village finished ninth.

Arcanum’s squad of Mara Wetzel, Claire Meyer, Marcy Bradshaw and Haleigh Shaffer finished fourth in the girls distance medley relay in 14:55.26. Franklin Monroe finished sixth, and Ansonia finished seventh.

Arcanum’s team of Isaac Stephens, Dan Coats, Tanner Delk and Justin Vanatta finished third in the boys distance medley relay with a time of 12:23.76. Franklin Monroe finished fifth, Bradford finished sixth, Tri-Village finished ninth, and Ansonia finished 10th.

Ansonia’s quartet of Bailey Stammen, Stefani Garrett, Lydia Sink and Aliya Barga won the girls 4×100 meter relay in a time of 54.19. Franklin Monroe finished fourth, Arcanum finished seventh, and Bradford finished ninth.

Ansonia’s team of Max Wardrip, Dane Wentworth, Devyn Sink and Austin Alexander finished third in the boys 4×100 meter relay in 46.75. Arcanum finished sixth, Franklin Monroe finished seventh, Bradford finished ninth, and Tri-Village finished 10th.

Bradford’s squad of Maia Stump, Destiny Otte, Karmen Knepp and Adria Roberts finished third in the girls middle distance medley relay in 7:44.30. Ansonia finished fourth, Arcanum finished fifth, and Franklin Monroe finished seventh.

Bradford’s quartet of Zach Miller, Rhyan Turner, Kurt Hoover and Johnny Fike finished fourth in the boys middle distance medley relay in 6:36.61. Arcanum finished fifth, Franklin Monroe finished seventh, Ansonia finished eighth, and Tri-Village finished 10th.

Franklin Monroe’s team of Leighana Rautsaw, Allyson Masterson, Regan Williams and Danielle McVey finished third in the girls 4×200 meter relay with a time of 2:02.88. Ansonia finished fifth, Arcanum finished seventh, and Tri-Village finished eighth.

Ansonia’s squad of Max Wardrip, Dane Wentworth, Devyn Sink and Austin Alexander finished second in the boys 4×200 meter relay in a time of 1:38.94. Arcanum finished fourth, Franklin Monroe finished sixth, and Tri-Village finished ninth.

Bradford’s team of Maia Stump, Destiny Otte, Karmen Knepp and Kelly Moore finished third in the girls 4×400 meter relay with a time of 4:38.13. Arcanum finished fifth, Franklin Monroe finished sixth, and Ansonia finished seventh.

Arcanum’s quartet of Isaac Stephens, Daniel O’Donnell, Austin Gibboney and Dan Coats finished second in the boys 4×400 meter relay in 3:39.60. Bradford finished third, Ansonia finished seventh, Franklin Monroe finished eighth, and Tri-Village finished ninth.
