Versailles softball team beats Fort Loramie in the Fort Loramie Invitational

FORT LORAMIE – The Versailles softball team shut out Tri-Village 6-0 in the Fort Loramie Invitational on Saturday.

Versailles scored four runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth. The Tigers had 13 hits and one error while the Patriots had four hits and no errors.

Hailey McEldowney went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and two runs for Versailles. Kami McEldowney went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Aimee Powell was 2-for-4 and scored a run.

Kristin Langston was 1-for-3 with a walk and a RBI. Kate Stammen was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run. Cori Lawrence was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Lauren Heitkamp was 1-for-4 with a run. Danielle Poor was 1-for-1. Ashlee Voisard was 1-for-4. Brynna Blakeley and Courtney McEldowney both scored a run.

For Tri-Village Shelby Holzapfel, Breeann Lipps, Payge Malott and Bree Wilson all went 1-for-3.

Lauren Heitkamp earned the win for Versailles as she pitched the complete game and allowed no runs on four hits, one walk and four strikeouts. Wilson was charged with the loss for Tri-Village as she also pitched the complete game and allowed four earned runs and two unearned runs on 13 hits, four walks and no strikeouts.

Versailles then beat Fort Loramie 6-3 in the second round of the invitational.

After giving up a run in the top half of the first inning, Fort Loramie took a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the inning. Versailles tied the game with a run in the third and regained the lead with three runs in the fourth and one in the fifth. Loramie scored the game’s final run in the bottom of the fifth.

Versailles had nine hits and one error in the game. Fort Loramie had six hits and two errors.

Kami McEldowney went 2-for-4 with a triple, a RBI and a run. Hailey McEldowney was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run. Courtney McEldowney was 1-for-3 with a RBI and a run.

Voisard was 1-for-3 with a walk and a RBI. Sarah Gigandet was 1-for-4 with a RBI and a run. Lawrence was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Langston was 1-for-4 with a RBI. Lauren Heitkamp went 1-for-2. Blakeley and Morgan Heitkamp both scored a run.

Lauren Heitkamp pitched the complete game, allowing two earned runs and one unearned run on six hits, two walks and three strikeouts.

Tri-Village lost its second game of the invitational 7-4 to Mechanicsburg.

Mechanicsburg took a 7-0 lead with one run in the second, two in the third, one in the fourth and three in the fifth. Tri-Village scored three runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh.

Tri-Village had nine hits and two errors. Mechanicsburg had 14 hits and no errors.

Malott went 3-for-3 with a double, a RBI and a run. Kloey Murphey was 2-for-4 with a RBI and a run. Shelby Frech was 1-for-2 with a RBI.

Peyton Bietry was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Wilson was 1-for-3 and scored a run. Holzapfel was 1-for-4 and scored a run.

Breanna Locke was charged with the loss as she pitched three innings and allowed three earned runs and one unearned run on 11 hits, two walks and no strikeouts. Wilson pitched four innings and allowed one earned run and two unearned runs on three hits, two walks and one strikeout.
