Greenville softball team sweeps Trotwood-Madison

TROTWOOD – The Greenville softball team run ruled Trotwood-Madison in a pair of Greater Western Ohio Conference games on Monday.

Greenville won the first game 13-1 in five innings. After Greenville scored four runs in the top of the first, Trotwood scored its lone run of the game in the bottom half of the inning. The Lady Wave then added five runs in the second, one in the fourth and three in the fifth.

Greenville had 12 hits and four errors in the game. Trotwood-Madison had three hits and three errors.

Madelyn Breig went 3-for-3 with three RBIs for Greenville. Shawna Osborne was 2-for-4 with two runs. Lauren Baughn was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Logan Tabler was 2-for-3 and scored a run.

Andrea Griffith went 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs. Alyssa York was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs. Lani Shilt was 1-for-4 and scored a run. Alexis Byers walked twice and scored three runs. Tess McClure walked three hits and scored two runs.

Allison Minnich pitched 3 2/3 innings and allowed one run on three hits, no walks and six strikeouts. Sydney Grote pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed no runs on no hits, no walks and three strikeouts.

Greenville won the second game of the doubleheader 13-2. Trotwood-Madison, which was the away team in game two, scored first with a run in the top half of the first inning. Greenville took an 8-0 lead with four runs in both the first and second innings. Trotwood scored one in the top of the third, and Greenville scored five in the bottom half of the inning.

Greenville had 13 hits and two errors in the game. Trotwood had three hits and three errors.

York went 3-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs. McClure was 2-for-3 with a double, a run and three RBIs. Ashton Kester went 2-for-3 and scored two runs. Breig was 2-for-3 with a run.

Byers was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, a RBI and two runs. Osborne went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, a run and a RBI. Baughn and Griffith both were 1-for-2 with a walk and a run. Shilt was hit by a pitch, drove in a run and scored a run.

Grote pitched three innings and allowed two unearned runs on three hits, one walk and five strikeouts. Alli Hill pitched two innings and allowed no runs on no hits, one walk and four strikeouts.

Greenville improved to 13-4 overall and 6-2 with the wins. Trotwood-Madison fell to 0-13 overall and 0-8 in the GWOC North.
