Tri-Village softball team beats Mississinawa Valley

UNION CITY – Tri-Village beat Mississinawa Valley 7-5 in a Cross County Conference softball game on Monday.

The game was moved from New Madison to Union City, but Tri-Village still played as the home team.

Batting first, Mississinawa scored two runs in the first half of the inning, but Tri-Village responded with three in the home half of the inning to lead 3-2. After MV regained the lead 4-3 in the top of the second, Tri-Village tied the game in the bottom half of the inning.

The Patriots took the lead for good with two runs in the third inning and one in the fourth to lead 7-4. The Hawks scored the game’s final run in the sixth.

Tri-Village had four hits and three errors in the game. Mississinawa Valley had 11 hits and four errors.

Bree Wilson went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs for Tri-Village. Payge Malott was 1-for-3 and scored two runs. Ally Godown and Shelby Frech also went 1-for-3. Kloey Murphey drove in a run. Peyton Bietry scored two runs, and Shelby Holzapfel scored one run.

For Mississinawa Valley Taydem Elson was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs. Makayla Coning went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Cassie Emrick was 1-for-3 with a double and a run. Abby Livingston was 1-for-4 with a RBI. Kinsie Blocher was 1-for-4 with a RBI. Bailey Johnson went 1-for-4 and scored two runs. Paxton Scholl was 1-for-4 and scored a run. Grace Livingston also had a hit.

Taylor Bowles earned the win as she pitched five innings and allowed one run on four hits, one walk and three strikeouts. Wilson pitched two innings and allowed four runs on five hits, one walk and no strikeouts.

Scholl pitched the complete game for MV, allowing four earned runs and three unearned runs on four hits, four walks and five strikeouts.
