3 Arcanum athletes, 1 Franklin Monroe athlete qualify for OHSAA state track and field meet

TROY – Three Arcanum athletes and one Franklin Monroe athlete qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division III state track and field meet.

Athletes from Ansonia, Arcanum, Bradford, Franklin Monroe and Tri-Village competed in the Division III regional track and field meet at Troy. The top four in each event qualified for the OHSAA state meet.

Arcanum’s Erica Zimmer qualified for state in the girls shot put by winning the regional championship with a throw of 40 feet 9.75 inches.

Arcanum’s Austin Gibboney qualified for state in the boys 300 meter hurdles by finishing as the regional runner up with a time of 40.31.

Franklin Monroe’s Nicole Berry qualified for state in the girls discus throw as she finished as the regional runner up with a throw of 115 feet 7 inches.

Arcanum’s Alexis Kreusch qualified for state in the girls high jump as she placed fourth by clearing 5 feet 1 inch.

Other Darke County athletes finished outside of the top four of their events and didn’t qualify for state.

Bradford’s Karmen Knepp and Arcanum’s Marcy Bradshaw made the podium in the girls 3,200 meter run. Knepp finished fifth with a time of 11:40.72, and Bradshaw finished eighth in 12:13.34.

Arcanum’s Erica Zimmer and Franklin Monroe’s Tara Goubeaux both made the podium in the girls discus throw. Zimmer finished fifth with a throw of 110 feet 3 inches while Goubeaux finished eighth with a throw of 103 feet 6 inches.

Arcanum’s Marcy Bradshaw made the podium in the girls 1,600 meter run as she finished sixth in 5:20.64.

Franklin Monroe’s Nicole Berry and Hannah Eley both made the podium in the girls shot put. Berry finished sixth with a throw of 35 feet 10 inches, and Eley finished seventh with a throw of 35 feet 6.75 inches.

Franklin Monroe’s Cole Van Hook made the podium in the boys 3,200 meter run by finishing seventh in 10:24.34.

Arcanum’s Mitchell Sink made the podium in the boys shot put as he placed seventh with a toss of 45 feet 8 inches.

Bradford’s team of Rhyan Turner, Zach Miller, Kyle Mills and Kurt Hoover made the podium in the boys 4×400 meter relay as they finished eighth in a time of 3:37.47.

Ansonia’s Lydia Sink made the podium in the girls long jump as she jumped 15 feet 10.5 inches to place eighth. She also made the podium in the girls high jump as she cleared 4 feet 10 inches to tie for eighth place.

Arcanum’s Marina Mehaffie made the podium in the girls pole vault by clearing 9 feet and placing eighth.

Ansonia’s Trevor Alexander finished ninth in the boys high jump by clearing 6 feet.

Arcanum’s Michaela McGaffic placed 11th in the girls shot put with a toss of 32 feet 2.5 inches.

Franklin Monroe’s Alex Knepshield finished 11th in the boys pole vault by clearing 11 feet.

Arcanum’s Isabella Whiting placed 11th in the girls pole vault as she cleared 8 feet 6 inches.

Arcanum’s Isaac Stephens finished 11th in the boys 1,600 meter run with a time of 4:47.37.

Arcanum’s squad of Isaac Stephens, Daniel Coats, Tanner Delk and Justin Vanatta finished 11th in the boys 4×800 meter relay in a time of 8:43.14.

Arcanum’s quartet of Mara Wetzel, Maggie Heiser, Claire Meyer and Marcy Bradshaw finish 12th in the girls 4×800 meter relay with a time of 11:17.68.

Franklin Monroe’s Leighana Rautsaw placed 12th in the girls long jump as she jumped 15 feet 1.5 inches.

Ansonia’s Heath Barga finished 14th in the boys shot put with a toss of 37 feet 4 inches.

Ansonia’s quartet of Devyn Sink, Dane Wentworth, Max Wardrip and Austin Alexander finished ninth in the preliminaries of the boys 4×100 meter relay in a time of 45.47.

Bradford’s Rhyan Turner finished 10th in the preliminaries of the boys 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.32. He also finished 10th in the preliminaries of the boys 300 meter hurdles in 42.40.

Tri-Village’s Kara Hollinger finished 12th in the preliminaries of the girls 100 meter hurdles in a time of 18.49.

Arcanum’s team of Luke Cetnar, Luke Holsapple, Austin Gibboney and Daniel O’Donnell finished 13th in the preliminaries of the boys 4×100 meter relay with a time of 45.68.

The four state qualifiers now will compete at the OHSAA state track and field meet on June 3 and 4 at The Ohio State University’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus.

Arcanum’s Austin Gibboney will compete in the preliminaries of the boys 300 meter hurdles at 11:30 a.m. June 3. The event finals are scheduled for 10:40 a.m. June 4.

Franklin Monroe’s Nicole Berry will compete in the finals of the girls discus throw at 1 p.m. June 3.

Arcanum’s Erica Zimmer will compete in the finals of the girls shot put at 4 p.m. June 3.

Arcanum’s Alexis Kreusch will compete in the finals of the girls high jump at 4 p.m. June 3.
