Greenville softball player Ashton Kester makes 1st team all-GWOC

GREENVILLE – Greenville senior shortstop Ashton Kester was named first team all-Greater Western Ohio Conference by the league for the 2016 softball season.

Kester was one of 13 players in the entire league to be named first team all-conference. As a senior she hit .457 with 12 doubles, three triples, two home runs, 35 RBIs, 40 runs and three stolen bases.

Along with Kester, sophomore outfielder Cassie Cromwell, senior pitcher Allison Minnich and junior infielder Karsyn Shaffer all were named first team all-GWOC North.

Sophomore outfielder Sydney Grote, junior infielder Makayla Hanes, junior infielder Alli Hill and senior catcher Jazzlyn Petry were named second team all-GWOC North.

Piqua’s Kyla Blankenship was named the GWOC North softball player of the year while Piqua’s Rick Claprood was named the GWOC North softball coach of the year.

Greenville, Piqua and Troy shared the GWOC North softball championship as they each finished 8-2 in division play. Sidney and Vandalia-Butler tied for fifth place by both finishing 3-7, and Trotwood-Madison finished sixth with a 0-10 record.
