ARCANUM – Franklin Monroe’s season ended Tuesday with a sixth place finish in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division III boys golf sectional tournament at Beechwood Golf Course.
The Jets shot a 370 in the sectional tournament, finishing 11 strokes out of district-qualifying position. The top four teams – Mechanicsburg with a 341, Fort Loramie with a 347, Fairlawn with a 347 and Lehman Catholic with a 359 – earned spots in the district tournament.
Dayton Christian finished fifth in the sectional tournament with a 368, Jackson Center was seventh with a 380, Triad was eighth with a 384, Russia finished ninth with a 385, Twin Valley South was 10th with a 393, Botkins was 11th with a 419, Houston finished 12th with a 431, Riverside was 13th with a 433, and Dixie finished 14th with a 443.
Noah Koffer led Franklin Monroe with an 18-hole round of 86, finishing 11th overall and one stroke out of district-qualifying position. Also for the Jets, Hunter Rich shot an 89, Bryce Filbrun shot a 93, Derek Lusher shot a 102, and Jeremy Bridenbaugh shot a 103.
Dayton Christian’s Philip Miller was the tournament medalist with a round of 74. He qualified for districts along with Botkins’ Josh Miller, who shot an 81; Twin Valley South’s Nathan Osborn, who shot an 81; and Dayton Christian’s Ben Kiser, who shot an 85.
