VERSAILLES – The Arcanum and Versailles girls golf teams both qualified for the district tournament with their performances in the sectionals on Wednesday at Stillwater Valley Golf Club.
Girls golfers from Arcanum, Franklin Monroe, Tri-Village and Versailles all participated in the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II sectional meet at Stillwater. Versailles won the sectional tournament with a 373 team score while Arcanum shot a 419 to finish fourth and earn the final district-qualifying spot.
Bellefontaine shot a 394 to finish second and Fort Loramie shot a 396 to finish third in the sectional. They will join Arcanum and Versailles in Wednesday’s district meet.
Triad finished fifth in the sectional meet with a 431, National Trail was sixth with a 432, Miami East finished seventh with a 445, Riverside was eighth with a 456, Tri-Village finished ninth with a 467, Benjamin Logan was 10th with a 475, Covington finished 11th with a 485, Russia was 12th with a 487, Franklin Monroe finished 13th with a 492, Valley View was 14th with a 548, and Indian Lake was 15th with a 570.
Lauren Heitkamp led Versailles as she shot an 18-hole round of 89 and finished fourth overall. Also for the Lady Tigers, Lauren Durham finished sixth overall with a round of 92, Jorja Pothast finished seventh with a 94, Morgan Heitkamp finished 12th with a 98, and Anna Groff finished 23rd with a 105.
Madi O’Daniel led Arcanum with a round of 99, finishing 14th overall. Also for the Lady Trojans, Lexi Unger finished 15th with a 100, Franchesca Hackworth finished 21st with a 104, Brenna Loxley finished 40th with a 116, and Alex Less finished 67th with a 142.
Andi Bietry led Tri-Village as she finished 24th overall with a 106. Also for the Lady Patriots, Emma Campbell finished 26th with a 107, Julia Mellott finished 47th with a 122, Lauren Flory finished 56th with a 132, and Becky O’Connor finished 71st with a 149.
Claire Haviza led the Franklin Monroe girls with a round of 112 and finished 34th overall. Also for the Lady Jets, Grace Zimmerman finished 43rd with a 118, Chelsi Edger finished 52nd with a 127, Danielle Nestor finished 60th with a 135, and Lacy Henninger finished 69th with a 146.
Eaton’s Sarah Willis won sectional tournament medalist honors with an even-par 72. She qualified for the district tournament along with National Trail’s Makenna Jones, who shot an 81; Triad’s Macy Linscott, who shot a 90; and Riverside’s Dana Jones, who shot a 95.
The district qualifiers, including Arcanum and Versailles, will compete at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at PipeStone Golf Course in Miamisburg. Three teams and three individuals from the district tournament will qualify for state.
