Versailles moves up in state volleyball rankings

COLUMBUS – Versailles moved up one spot to No. 12 this week in the Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association state rankings.

After being ranked No. 13 in Division III the past two weeks, Versailles moved up one spot this week by bypassing Miami East. The No. 12 ranking matches a season-best for the Lady Tigers, who also were ranked 12th in the first poll of the season.

Versailles remains ranked behind Gilmour Academy, Huron, Coldwater, Highland, Tuscarawas Valley, Buckeye Trail, Newark Catholic, Utica, St. Henry, Lutheran West and Eastwood in the fourth poll of the 2016 season.

Versailles is the lone Darke County team to be ranked in the OHSVCA state poll this season.

A number of other teams with Darke County connections are ranked in this week’s poll. Coldwater from the Midwest Athletic Conference is ranked No. 3 in Division III, St. Henry from the MAC is ranked No. 9 in Division III, Miami East from the Cross County Conference is ranked No. 13 in Division III, Fort Recovery from the MAC is ranked No. 19 in Division III, Marion Local from the MAC is ranked No. 5 in Division IV, New Bremen from the MAC is ranked No. 7 in Division IV, Minster from the MAC is ranked No. 17 in Division IV, and Delphos St. John’s from the MAC is ranked No. 19 in Division IV.
