Bradford junior high volleyball teams win in 1st round of CCC tournament

BRADFORD – The Bradford junior high volleyball teams both won their first round matches in the Cross County Conference tournament.

The Bradford seventh graders beat Newton 25-19, 25-5.

The Railroaders’ Zoe Brewer had 14 points including four aces. Abby Fike had 10 points, six aces and one kill. Rylee Canan had two points and seven assists. Macy Bubeck had one point and one kill. Nylani Beireis had two kills, Maddie Simons had two kills, and Alexis Barhorst had one kill.

Bradford’s eighth graders beat Covington 25-21, 26-24.

The Railroaders’ Maggie Manuel had 11 points, eight aces and one kill. Emma Canan had five points including two aces. Cassi Mead had four points, two assists, an ace and a kill.

Courtney Monnin had three points and two kills. Buzz Brewer had four assists and one kill. Aliviyah Boggs had three kills. Kendall Hill had three points.

Bradford’s teams both play Franklin Monroe on Saturday at Covington in the second round of the CCC tournament. The eighth grade match will be at 11 a.m. in the new gymnasium, and the seventh grade match will be at noon in the old gymnasium.
