Darke County football players earn all-CCC honors

DARKE COUNTY – Five Darke County football players earned first team all-Cross County Conference honors for the 2016 season.

Ansonia’s Rygh Fortkamp, Ansonia’s Andrew Rowland, Arcanum’s Cambell Gostomsky, Arcanum’s Brandon Kinney and Mississinawa Valley’s Nate Gladdish all earned first team all-CCC honors.

Ansonia’s Max Wardrip, Arcanum’s Maverick Hildebrand and Mississinawa Valley’s Trenton Perkins each were named second team all-CCC.

Ansonia’s Nathan Denniston, Ansonia’s Aydan Sanders, Arcanum’s Daniel Coats, Arcanum’s Wade Meeks, Mississinawa Valley’s Trent Collins and Mississinawa Valley’s Will Hall each made the CCC’s special mention team.

Covington’s Seth Thomas was named the CCC lineman of the year, and Tri-County North’s Tanner Booth was named the CCC back of the year. Covington’s Tyler Cates was named the CCC football coach of the year.

Covington won the CCC football championship with a perfect 8-0 conference record. Miami East finished second with a 7-1 record in the league, Tri-County North finished third at 6-2, Bethel finished fourth at 5-3, Arcanum finished fifth at 4-4, Twin Valley South finished sixth with a 3-5 record, Ansonia finished seventh at 2-6, National Trail finished eighth at 1-7, and Mississinawa Valley finished ninth with a 0-8 conference record.
