NEW MADISON – Having won the Cross County Conference championship four years in a row, the Tri-Village boys basketball team enters this season looking to add more hardware to its trophy case.
“Our goals at Tri-Village always remain the same: league title, Patriot Holiday Classic title, sectional title, district title, regional title and state title,” Tri-Village coach Josh Sagester said.
To reach those lofty goals Tri-Village will look to its seniors for leadership.
Gavin Richards was named first team all-CCC last season as the guard averaged a team-leading 18.3 points per game and 2.8 assists per game.
Trace Couch also returns from last year’s starting lineup for the Patriots. The post player was second on the team last year with 16.2 points per game and led Tri-Village with 8.8 rebounds a game, earning second team all-CCC honors.
Senior guard Jonny Wilson also is a returning letterman for the Patriots.
Rounding out the roster for the Patriots are junior post Jared Buckley, junior guard Dillon McCullough, junior guard Trey Frech, junior post Christian Ricker, junior post, Cameron Sterrett, junior guard Noah Burns and sophomore post Darrell Lee.
“Strengths of our team this year will be our experience, team athleticism and length,” Sagester said.
Tri-Village is a program that’s been in the state final four twice in the past three seasons, winning the Division IV state championship in 2015. The Patriots will try to best utilize this group’s talents to maximize their potential and try to reach that championship level again.
“At Tri-Village we do the best we can to tap in to individual strengths ultimately trying to put our kids in positions for team success,” Sagester said.
