Ansonia girls basketball team defeats Mississinawa Valley

ANSONIA – Ansonia beat Mississinawa Valley 87-41 in a non-conference girls basketball game Saturday night.

Ansonia got off to a fast start and took a 32-9 first quarter lead. The Tigers increased their lead to 46-19 in the second quarter and 69-30 in the third quarter on their way to the 87-41 victory.

Trinity Henderson led Ansonia with 15 points and added three assists. Kassy Wentworth had 14 points off the bench. Jailyn Thwaits had 13 points, seven rebounds, three steals and two assists. Stefani Garrett had 11 points and six assists. Katie Werts had 11 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Mikayla Stump led Mississinawa Valley with 12 points, Kylie Willis scored 10, Kelsie Hunt scored 7, and Sidnie Hunt scored 7.

Ansonia improved to 9-10 with the win while Mississinawa Valley fell to 1-17. Ansonia will travel to Twin Valley South on Thursday, and Mississinawa will travel to Franklin Monroe on Thursday.
