Ansonia Wall of Fame inducts sisters Alexandria Mayo, Brittany (Mayo) Harrod

ANSONIA – The Ansonia Athletic Wall of Fame Committee inducted two new members on Friday, sisters Alexandria Mayo and Brittany (Mayo) Harrod.

Alexandria Mayo, class of 2009, was recognized for her athletic accomplishments in softball, volleyball and basketball. She earned 11 athletic letters during her high school career including all four years of softball, all four years of volleyball and her sophomore through senior years in basketball.

Also in softball, Mayo was 2007 offensive player of the year, 2007 Cross County Conference honorable mention, 2008 most improved and in 2009 she received her four-year trophy award. She also earned numerous team awards and was a member of the 2009 softball team that went to state final four, losing in the semifinals 3-0 to eventual state champion Strasburg-Franklin.

Brittany (Mayo) Harrod, class of 2009, was recognized for her athletic accomplishments in softball, volleyball and basketball. She earned nine athletic letters during her high school career including all four years of softball, all four years of volleyball and her senior year of basketball.

Also in softball, Harrod was 2006 CCC honorable mention, 2007 outstanding pitcher, 2007 CCC first team and 2008 CCC honorable mention. She also earned numerous team awards and was a member of the 2009 softball team that went to state final four, losing in the semifinals 3-0 to eventual state champion Strasburg-Franklin.

Wall of Fame applications can be obtained at the Ansonia Local School Office or Athletic Department. Nominees must be a graduate of Ansonia Local Schools, must have graduated not less than five years prior to nomination, and the nomination form and supporting documentation must be received by March 1 annually.
