Tri-Village boys basketball team enters the AP state rankings

COLUMBUS – For the first time this season the Tri-Village boys basketball team is ranked in the Associated Press’ state poll.

Tri-Village received 24 points and is ranked 12th in Division IV in the fifth poll of the 2016-17 season. The Patriots are ranked behind Defiance Ayersville, McDonald, Mansfield St. Peter’s, South Charleston Southeastern, Bristol, Cornerstone Christian, Canal Winchester Harvest Prep, Grove City Christian, Fort Loramie, Waterford and West Unity Hilltop.

Also, the Versailles boys moved up to a season-best ranking of No. 2 in Division III. The Tigers, who received one first-place vote for a second consecutive week, remain ranked behind Leavittsburg Labrae. Versailles bypassed Cincinnati Summit Country Day and Oak Hill in the Division III rankings. The Tigers have been ranked in all five polls this season, ranging from No. 2 to No. 7 in Division III.

A number of other schools with local connections are ranked this week. Springfield from the Greater Western Ohio Conference is ranked No. 12 in Division I, Trotwood-Madison from the GWOC is ranked No. 3 in Division II, and Bethel from the Cross County Conference is ranked 12th in Division III.
