Franklin Monroe boys basketball team loses to Fort Loramie on senior night

PITSBURG – Franklin Monroe locked horns with Fort Loramie on Saturday, and the Redskins would play the role of spoiler on senior night by handing the Jets a 65-42 loss.

The Redskins jumped up early, but the Jets worked back behind the play of senior Mason Conley drilling a triple. Then with a finish at the rim the Jets had tied the game 11-11.

Fort Loramie closed out the quarter strong with a couple of scores to go up 15-11.

The Redskins continued to wreak havoc defensively to start the second quarter and went up 22-11, prompting a Jet timeout to regroup. Franklin Monroe went in at the halftime break down 34-20.

Some nights you run into a team who is physically better, and defensively at times it looked like Fort Loramie was playing with six guys … and with the Jets unable to make outside shots, it made it even tougher getting the ball inside.

Ethan Conley put the team on his shoulders and tried to will the Jets back into the game by taking the ball to the basket on his way to a game-high 20 points.

Despite those efforts the Jets trailed 51-33 after the third quarter and could get no closer in the final stanza as the Redskins went on to win it 65-42.

It would be the final home game for two seniors, Mason Conley and Kameron Thurmond.

Mason Conley ended the game with 15 points and Thurmond chipped in 2 along with six rebounds.

Franklin Monroe fell to 15-6 with one regular season game remaining in which the Jets will travel to Miami East on Friday.
