Greenville competes at GWOC meet

ARCANUM – The Greenville boys and girls golf teams competed in the Greater Western Ohio Conference’s preseason meet on Friday at Beechwood Golf Course.

The Greenville girls shot a 482 and finished 10th out of 12 teams in the conference tournament, defeating Butler and Wayne. The Lady Wave were third out of four GWOC North teams.

The Greenville boys shot a 381 and finished 14th out of 17 teams, defeating Sidney, Fairborn and West Carrollton. The Green Wave finished fourth out of five GWOC North teams.

Casey Mortensen led the Greenville girls as she shot a 107 for the 18-hole tournament and tied for 32nd place. Jada Garland shot a 117 and tied for 46th, Brianna Fourman and Ashley Karns both shot a 129 and tied for 56th, Emily Fulton shot a 138 and tied for 64th, and Kourtney Kretschmar shot a 143 and finished 68th.

Jason Shields led the Greenville boys as he shot an 89 for the 18-hole round and tied for 48th place. Connor Null shot a 94 and tied for 60th, Andrew Harshman shot a 96 and tied for 65th, A.J. Bowers shot a 102 and tied for 74th, Parker Allison shot a 103 and tied for 77th, and Matt Hounshell shot a 121 and finished 92nd.

Wayne’s Bryce Haney and Springboro’s Austin Schoonmaker tied for medalist honors in the boys portion of the meet as they both shot an even-par 72.

Centerville’s Esha Kulkarni had the day’s best score as she shot a one-under-par 71 to take medalist honors for the girls meet.

Centerville won the girls meet with a team score of 326. Troy was the top GWOC North girls team with a score of 393.

Springboro won the boys portion of the meet with a score of 299. Butler led the GWOC North boys with a score of 317.
