COLUMBUS – Versailles senior Bo Bey finished seventh in his weight class at the Ohio High School Athletic Association state wrestling tournament at The Ohio State University’s Schottenstein Center in Columbus.
Bo Bey, one of three Versailles seniors to compete at the Division III state meet along with Tanner Bey and Jonathan Moorman, won three matches at the state tournament to earn a spot on the podium.
The Versailles senior began tournament action in the 182 pound division on Thursday with a 4-3 victory over Navarre Fairless junior Nick Shephard.
On Friday Bo Bey lost 5-1 to Carey freshman Tanner May to drop into the consolation bracket. He then beat Hamler Patrick Henry freshman Wil Morrow 6-4 to ensure himself a spot on the podium.
Bo Bey then lost by default to Oak Harbor senior Kian Thompson on Friday to drop into the seventh place match. In his final match on Saturday Bo Bey beat Newbury senior Tom McKale 5-2 to finish in seventh place.
Moorman started out the tournament in the 170 pound division by defeating West Lafayette Ridgewood senior Kasey Bethel in a 16-7 major decision on Thursday. Moorman then lost 9-3 to Gibsonburg sophomore Brad Mendoza and lost 5-1 to Rittman senior Manny Garza on Friday to conclude his high school wrestling career.
Tanner Bey began his tournament run in the 145 pound class by defeating Belmont Union Local senior Devin Crum 9-4 on Thursday. The Versailles senior then lost 9-5 to Norwalk St. Paul senior Derek Gross and lost 5-3 to Chillicothe Zane Trace senior Dawson Hoselton on Friday to end his high school wrestling career.
