GREENVILLE – Greenville honored its winter sports athletes during a postseason banquet at the school.
Sydney Oda from the gymnastics team, Isaiah Gable from the boys basketball team, Josh Smith from the boys swimming team, Alejandra Segura from the girls bowling team and Mackenzie Slade from the girls bowling team were recognized as four-year award winners.
For the girls basketball team Karsyn Shaffer received the Wave Award, Saki Nakamura was named the most improved, and Jada Garland earned the Coaches Award. Morgan Gilbert and Cassie Cromwell were named the co-MVPs. Koryann Elliott received the Sportsmanship Award while Lani Shilt was named the defensive stopper.
In boys basketball Isaiah Gable earned the Wave Award, Aaron Rich was named the most improved, and Pete Pandey earned the Coaches Award. Pete Pandey was recognized for having the best free throw percentage at 81 percent. Trae Wood earned the Sportsmanship Award, and Devin Hendrix was named Mr. Defense.
In cheerleading Bailey Bennett earned the Sportsmanship Award. Madison Meade received the Coaches Award.
For the wrestling team Jacob Mikesell received the Tim Best Award, which goes to the team MVP. He also was named the most improved. Austin Lacey was recognized for having the most takedowns with 53 and most pins with 19. Christian Chalmers and Dean Hurd shared the Coaches Award. Landin Brown was named the Rookie of the Year.
In boys swimming Josh Smith was named the Most Valuable Swimmer. Shane Barga received the Coaches Award, and Tyler Strait received the Sportsmanship Award. Josh Galloway and Josh Schrock were named the most improved swimmers.
In girls swimming Isabella Gable was named the Most Valuable Swimmer. McKenna Crews was awarded the Coaches Award. Mary Fenhaus received the Sportsmanship Award. Harley Fisher was named most improved.
For the boys bowling team Cullen Blinn was named the MVP. Dylan Stepp earned the Coaches Award. Chris Elliott was named most improved. Mark Zeiler received the Sportsmanship Award.
In girls bowling Mackenzie Slade was named the MVP. Jenna Netzley was recognized with the Coaches Award. Shila Thompson was named most improved. Mariah Nicholas earned the Sportsmanship Award.
