Mississinawa Valley baseball team loses at Miami East

CASSTOWN – Mississinawa Valley lost 4-2 to Miami East in a Cross County Conference baseball game on Thursday.

Miami East scored one run in the first inning and one in the third to take a 2-0 lead. Mississinawa Valley scored one run in the top of the fourth to cut its deficit to 2-1. Miami East then scored two more runs in the sixth and MV scored one in the seventh for the 4-2 final score.

Both teams had five hits in Thursday’s game. Mississinawa Valley had three errors while Miami East committed none.

Cody Dirksen went 2-for-3 with a triple and scored a run for Mississinawa Valley. Kyler Guillozet and Zac Longfellow both went 1-for-3 and drove in a run. Ethan Dirksen also was 1-for-3. Trent Collins stole a base and scored a run.

Ethan Dirksen went 2 2/3 innings on the mound for Mississinawa Valley, allowing one earned run and one unearned run on two hits and four walks. Collins pitched three innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits, two walks and two strikeouts. Cameron Shimp pitched 1/3 of an inning, allowing no runs on no hits, no walks and one strikeout.

Mississinawa Valley fell to 0-4 overall and 0-2 in the CCC with the loss.
