Mississinawa Valley softball team run ruled by Covington

UNION CITY – The Mississinawa Valley softball team lost 21-2 to Covington in five innings of Cross County Conference softball on Wednesday.

Covington scored 13 runs in the second inning and eight in the fourth to go up 21-0. Mississinawa Valley then scored one run in both the fourth and fifth innings.

Covington out-hit Mississinawa Valley 29 to six in the game. Neither team committed an error.

Paxton Scholl led Mississinawa Valley by going 2-for-3 with a triple and scoring a run. Lupe Arrona was 1-for-1 with a RBI. Amanda Jeffers was 1-for-3 and drove in a run.

Lindsay Johns went 1-for-2 with a walk. Bailey Johnson also was 1-for-2. Taydem Elson walked twice and scored a run.

Taydem Elson pitched two innings, allowing 13 runs on 14 hits, one walk and one strikeout. Scholl pitched three innings and allowed eight runs on 15 hits, no walks and two strikeouts.
