Greenville baseball team defeats Stebbins in GWOC opener

GREENVILLE – The Greenville baseball team beat Stebbins 3-1 in its Greater Western Ohio Conference season opener on Friday.

After Stebbins scored the game’s first run in the first inning, Greenville responded with two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth for the 3-1 victory.

Greenville had six hits and one error in the game while Stebbins had one hit and three errors.

Peter Pandey earned the win as he pitched six innings, allowing one run on one hit, two walks, one hit batter and four strikeouts. Owen Paulsus pitched one perfect inning in relief, striking out two batters in the process.

Tanner Ross led Greenville at the plate by going 3-for-3 with a RBI. Tyler Beyke was 1-for-4 with a RBI and two stolen bases. Brandon Beyke was 1-for-4, stole a base and scored a run. Landon Eldridge was 1-for-3 with a stolen base. Kyle Mills scored a run.

Greenville improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the GWOC with the win.
