Arcanum baseball team loses at Russia

RUSSIA – Russia came back to defeat the Arcanum baseball team 3-2 on Monday.

After both teams scored one run in the first inning, Arcanum took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third. Russia tied the game at 2-2 in the fourth and then scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Arcanum had four hits and one error on Monday while Russia had six hits and three errors.

Evan Atchley went 2-for-3 with a RBI and a stolen base for Arcanum. Layne Byrne was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored a run. Ben Sease was 1-for-3. Wade Meeks stole a base and scored a run.

Atchley pitched five innings and allowed two earned runs on six hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Austin Smith was charged with the loss as he pitched one inning, allowing one unearned run on no hits, no walks and two strikeouts.
