Greenville softball team run rules Tippecanoe

GREENVILLE – Greenville run ruled Tippecanoe 12-2 in five innings of Greater Western Ohio Conference softball on Tuesday.

Tippecanoe scored the game’s first run in the top half of the first inning then Greenville scored one run in the first inning, four in the second and two in the third to lead 7-1. After Tippecanoe scored its final run in the fourth inning, Greenville added two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to win 12-2.

Greenville had 16 hits and two errors while Tippecanoe had five hits and seven errors.

Karsyn Shaffer went 3-for-3, stole a base, scored three runs and drove in two runs. Cassie Cromwell was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and two RBI. Courtney Bryson went 2-for-4 with a RBI and two runs. Alli Hill was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI. Lani Shilt was 2-for-3.

Makayla Hanes went 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and two RBI. Sydney Grote was 1-for-4 with a double, a RBI and a run. Morgan Gilbert was 1-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base, a RBI and a run. Baylee Petry was 1-for-4 with a RBI. Haleigh Mayo scored two runs, and Megan Johnston and Chloe Sowry both scored a run.

Petry pitched the complete game, allowing one earned run and one unearned run on five hits, no walks, one hit batter and one strikeout.
