Mississinawa Valley baseball team shuts out Botkins

UNION CITY – Two Blackhawk pitchers combined for a one-hitter as Mississinawa Valley run ruled Botkins 10-0 in six innings of baseball on Saturday.

Mississinawa scored one run in the third inning, four in the third, three in the fifth and two in the sixth and didn’t allow Botkins to score a run.

MV had 10 hits and no errors. Botkins had one hit and four errors.

Trent Collins pitched 5 2/3 innings for Mississinawa Valley, allowing no runs on one hit, no walks and six strikeouts. Cameron Shimp pitched 1/3 of an inning with one strikeout.

Offensively Shimp went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, a RBI and a run. Colton Hines was 2-for-2, was hit by a pitch, stole a base, drove in a run and scored two runs. Zac Longfellow was 2-for-4 with a stolen base, a RBI and a run. Cody Dirksen was 1-for-2, was hit by a pitch, drove in a run and scored two runs. Andrew Johns went 1-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Ethan Dirksen was 1-for-4, stole two bases and scored a run. Kyler Guillozet scored a run and drove in two runs. Matthew Slob stole a base and scored a run.
