Greenville baseball team loses in 8 innings at Sidney

SIDNEY – Sidney beat Greenville 8-7 in eight innings of Greater Western Ohio Conference baseball on Tuesday.

After both teams scored one run in the first inning, Greenville took a 6-1 lead in the second inning. Sidney tied the game with one run in the fourth and four in the fifth and then took a 7-6 lead in the sixth. Greenville scored a run in the seventh to force extra innings then Sidney scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

Greenville had 12 hits and five errors while Sidney had 10 hits and one error.

Landon Eldridge was 3-for-5, stole a base, scored two run and drove in two runs. Jason Shields was 3-for-4, stole a base and scored two runs. Logan Eldridge was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI.

Kyle Mills went 1-for-3, walked, stole a base and scored a run. Peter Pandey was 1-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base. Tyler Beyke was 1-for-4 and drove in a run. Tanner Ross was 1-for-4 and drove in a run. Grant Minnich was hit by a pitch, drove in a run and scored a run. Brandon Beyke walked once and scored a run.

Mills pitched seven innings, allowing two earned runs and five unearned runs on eight hits, four walks and six strikeouts. Owen Paulus pitched 2/3 of an innings, allowing one earned run on two hits, no walks and one strikeout.
