Registration open for 34th annual Firecracker Run in Ansonia

ANSONIA – Registration is open for the 34th annual Firecracker Run, which will be held July 4 in Ansonia.

The Firecracker Run is a 5K that is sponsored by the Ansonia Fire Department, Greenville National Bank, Riffle Mowing and Landscaping, Cal-Maine Foods, Pressure It! Power Washing, Versailles Painting Services, The Whistle Stop and Ansonia Lumber Co. in conjunction with the Ansonia Fourth of July celebration.

The race will begin at 9 a.m. July 4 at Ansonia schools and will end back at the school.

There are male and female divisions for runners 10 and younger, 11 to 14, 15 to 18, 19 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69 and 70 and older.

Awards will presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, the top three finishers in each age division and the first place team.

There also will be refreshments at the finish line and door prizes awarded after the race.

The cost of preregistration is $18 with a shirt or $12 without a shirt if postmarked by June 28. Registration the day of the race is $20 with a shirt or $15 without a shirt. The cost for participants age 14 and younger is $12 with a shirt or $5 without a shirt. Extra shirts will be available while supplies last.
