Arcanum football team shut out at Greeneview

JAMESTOWN – Greeneview shut out the Arcanum football team on Friday night, defeating the Trojans 31-0 in the teams’ season opener.

Greeneview took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run by Nick Clevenger and increased its lead to 14-0 later in the quarter with a QB keeper by Tyler Robinette.

The Rams made it 17-0 with a 36-yard field goal by Jon Brakeall in the second quarter.

Clevenger connected with Jacob Green for a 54-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter, putting Greeneview up 24-0.

In the fourth quarter Clay Payton took a handoff 46 yards for another Greeneview score, making it 31-0.

Arcanum was in control of the ball for the majority of the game as the Trojans had possession for 24:06 with the Rams had it for 23:53. However, Arcanum was only able to manage five first downs while Greeneview had 19.

Arcanum fell to 0-1 with Friday’s loss while Greeneview improved to 1-0.

Arcanum will play host to National Trail, who is coming off a 32-14 loss to Preble Shawnee, in a non-conference game on Friday.
