Arcanum loses tiebreaker, places 2nd at Joe Middleton Invitational

ARCANUM – The Tri-Village boys golf team hosted 21 teams including Arcanum, Franklin Monroe, Mississinawa Valley and Tri-Village in the Joe Middleton Invitational on Saturday at Beechwood Golf Course.

Eaton won the invitational with a team score of 328, besting Arcanum via the fifth-man tiebreaker after the Trojans also shot a 328. Arcanum’s fifth golfer, Nate Kubik, shot a 91 while Eaton’s Sean Hodges shot an 89.

Fairbanks finished third with a 334, Newton finished fourth with a 341, Russia finished fifth with a 342, Anna was sixth with a 346, Miami East finished seventh with a 350, Fort Loramie was eighth with a 355, Bethel finished ninth with a 357, and Graham was 10th with a 366.

Piqua finished 11th with a 367, Franklin Monroe was 12th with a 372, Tri-Village was 13th with a 372, Twin Valley South finished 14th with a 377, National Trail was 15th with a 382, Covington was 16th with a 386, Mississinawa Valley finished 17th with a 408, Houston was 18th with a 418, Botkins was 19th with a 419, and Troy Christian finished 20th with a 490. Dixie didn’t have enough golfers to record a team score.

Justin Hoke and Steven Vanatta both led Arcanum with an 18-hole round of 80 on Saturday. Also for the Trojans, Conner Pohl shot an 81, Sam Artz shot an 87, Nate Kubik shot a 91, and Hayden Westfall shot a 101.

Bradey Hesler led Franklin Monroe with a round of 85. Also for the Jets, Jeremy Bridenbaugh shot a 95, Hunter Rich shot a 95, Bryce Filbrun shot a 97, Noah Koffer shot a 97, and Levi Altic shot a 107.

Tyler VanWinkle led Tri-Village with a round of 84. Also for the Patriots, Brett Boyter shot an 88, Brandon Peters shot a 99, Luke Wheeler shot a 101, Knox Morris shot a 108, and Gage Hileman shot a 115.

Josh Rehmert led Mississinawa Valley with a round of 87. Also for the Blackhawks, Joe Teeter shot a 98, Trent Collins shot a 110, Brandon Beanblossom shot a 113, Kyler Guillozet shot a 122, and Ethen Dirksen shot a 126.

Eaton’s Cameron Willis was the invitational medalist as he shot a 74 for the 18-hole round. Twin Valley South’s Nathan Osborn placed second with a 76, Newton’s Brock Jamison was third with a 77, Covington’s Levi Winn was fourth with a 78, and Fairbanks’ John Finks placed fifth with a 78.
