VERSAILLES – Justin Ahrens scored a program record 46 points as the Versailles boys basketball team beat Celina 69-42 on Saturday.
Versailles trailed 15-7 at the end of the first quarter then cut its deficit to 27-26 at halftime. The Tigers took a 42-38 lead in the third quarter on their way to a 27-point win.
Along with setting a record for most points in a game, Justin Ahrens also set a Versailles record with 10 3-pointers in the game.
Also for the Tigers, AJ Ahrens scored 8 points, Michael Stammen scored 6, Keaton McEldowney scored 4, Carter May scored 3, and Noah Richard scored 2.
Versailles, which improved to 1-0 with the win, will open Midwest Athletic Conference play with a home game on Friday against Delphos St. John’s.
