VERSAILLES – The Versailles girls basketball team beat Covington 60-39 on Saturday.

Versailles jumped out to a 16-3 lead in the first quarter and led 28-13 at halftime. The Tigers increased their lead to 47-29 in the third quarter on their way to a 21-point victory.

Kami McEldowney led Versailles with a game-high 17 points. Also for the Tigers, Danielle Winner scored 16 points, Caitlin McEldowney scored 11, Lindsey Winner scored 10, Kelsey Custenborder scored 4, and Ellen Peters scored 2.

Samantha Whiteman led Covington with 15 points. Also for the Buccaneers, Jordan Crowell scored 11 points, Victoria Lyle scored 6, Lillian Hamilton scored 4, and Makenzie Long scored 3.

Versailles, which improved to 4-0 with the win, will travel to Arcanum on Tuesday.
