GETTYSBURG – After winning its first game in school history, Tri-Village followed that up with a win over National Trail by the score of 61-6 in junior varsity action on Saturday morning.

TV returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown only to have it called back on a blocking in the back penalty. But that didn’t deter the Patriots as they would make good on the score on an 8-yard run by Jared Buckley at 7:15 to go up 6-0.

Noah Burns broke free on a run around the end and raced 45 yards for a touchdown moments later, and a Buckley two-point run made the score 14-0.

Quarterback Jonny Wilson took one 22 yards on the keeper up the middle to add to the Patriots’ margin, making it 20-0 in the first quarter.

National Trail, facing a long third down deep in its own territory, got behind the defense of the Patriots and completed a 25-yard pass to Angel Garabito to keep its drive alive.

The Blazers would continue to march downfield, putting together their only score of the day when Hunter Lindsey weaved his way for 26-yards through the Patriots’ defense for the touchdown.

The two-point conversion attempt by the Blazers was met by a host of Patriot defenders and turned away on a hit by Charlie Bailey at the goal line to make the score 20-6.

It only took Tri-Village one play to answer as Wilson galloped 65 yards for the score and another Buckley two-point conversion run put the Pats up 28-6.

Tri-Village got one more score before the half when Wilson tossed a 20-yard pass in the flat to Austin Bruner, who turned the corner but came up short at the goal line.

Wilson on the next play went 1 yard for the touchdown to go up at the half 35-6.

Tri-Village dominated the second half as well on its way to a 61-6 win over National Trail to run their record to 2-1 on the year and 1-1 in the Cross County Conference.

Buckley scored two more times and Dalton Stephens caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Trey Frech, and the scoring was completed on an 80-yard interception return from Dalton Stephens.

The Patriots will face a stiff challenge on Saturday as they host the Covington Buccaneers at 7p.m. under the lights in New Madison.
