Greenville girls tennis loses to Vandalia-Butler

GREENVILLE – The Greenville girls tennis team lost 5-0 to Vandalia-Butler in a Greater Western Ohio Conference match on Thursday.

In first singles Greenville’s Anja Mertel lost 6-0, 6-0 to Butler’s Madison Peyton. At second singles Anna Manges lost to Leigh Harden 6-2, 6-3. In the third singles match Molly Hunt lost to Ashley Hess 7-5, 6-2.

At first doubles Neeps Kaur and Mallory Rich lost to Vynesa Evanson and Allison Baker 6-3, 6-7, 6-3. In second doubles Casey Malott and Larisa Schmitmeyer lost to Allie Bohannon and Maggie Lane 7-5, 6-3.

Greenville fell to 9-8 overall and 1-2 in the GWOC North with the loss while Butler improved to 8-6 overall and 2-1 in the GWOC North.

In junior varsity action Greenville’s Marabelle Lance won a singles match and the duo of Rose Blocher and Katie Baughman won a doubles match.
