Versailles boys golf finishes 10th at sectional meet

MIAMISBURG – The Versailles boys golf team shot a 348 and finished 10th in the Division II sectional meet on Wednesday at PipeStone Golf Course to end its season.

Junior Kyle Cotner led Versailles with an 18-hole round of 83. Also for the Tigers, junior Nicholas Litten-Stonebraker shot an 85, senior Griffen Riegle shot an 87, senior Jacob Watren shot a 93, and senior Michael Hemmelgarn shot a 102.

Oakwood won the sectional tournament with a 320 and advanced to the district meet along with Alter with a 323, Fenwick with a 327 and Brookville with a 334.

Eaton finished fifth in the sectional with a 334, Carlisle finished sixth with a 338, Valley View finished seventh with a 340, Clinton-Massie finished eighth with a 342, Badin finished ninth with a 343, Versailles finished 10th with its 348, Monroe finished 11th with a 358, East Clinton finished 12th with a 360, Madison finished 13th with a 366, Chaminade Julienne finished 14th with a 389, Preble Shawnee finished 15th with a 452, and Stivers finished 16th with a 492.

Eaton senior Cameron Willis won the sectional championship with a one-under-par 71. He advanced to districts along with Eaton Clinton senior Jon Blair with a round of 77, Valley View sophomore Ben Herman with a round of 78 and Madison junior Phillip Wilson with a round of 78.
