COLUMBUS – Despite losing to Minster last week, the Versailles football team remained in position to qualify for the Ohio High School Athletic Association playoffs.
In the second weekly release of the 2015 season, Versailles remained No. 8 in the OHSAA’s Division V Region 18 computer ratings.
As the points stand at the midpoint of the regular season, Versailles would be the final team in its region to qualify for the postseason and would play at Midwest Athletic Conference rival Coldwater in the opening round of the playoffs. Versailles is 3-2 through five weeks this season while Coldwater, the defending Division V state champion, is undefeated.
The OHSAA computer points will be used to determine which football teams make the postseason following the conclusion of the regular season. Log on to the football page at OHSAA.org for an explanation of how the ratings are calculated.
In the OHSAA system, Division I is split in two regions with 16 teams from both regions qualifying for the playoffs. Divisions II through VII are split into four regions each with the top eight teams in each region making the playoffs.
Ansonia, Arcanum, Bradford, Greenville and Mississinawa Valley are not ranked in the top 12 of their regions. Thus they are out of playoff position and were not included in this week’s OHSAA computer ratings release.
