CELINA – The Versailles boys golf team finished fourth out of 10 teams at Marion Local’s Jordan Moeller Memorial tournament on Monday at the Mercer County Elks Golf Club.
Versailles shot a 338 to finish behind Lima Shawnee with a 309, St. Henry with a 335 and Russia with a 337. Versailles beat Fort Recovery with a 345, Coldwater with a 345, Parkway with a 346, Celina with a 384, Marion Local with a 386 and Van Wert with a 415.
Kyle Cotner and Nicholas Litten-Stonebraker led Versailles as they both shot an 82 for the 18-hole tournament. Also for the Tigers, Jacob Watren shot an 86, Griffen Riegle shot an 88, and Michael Hemmelgarn shot a 97.
Coldwater’s Jarren Kunk was the tournament medalist as he shot a two-over-par 74. Fort Recovery’s Jackson Hobbs shot a 75, Shawnee’s Jacob Good shot a 75, Shawnee’s Ian Hasting shot a 77, and Shawnee’s Keaton McKinley shot a 77.
Two $500 scholarships also were awarded during the tournament. Coldwater’s Jarren Kunk won one for being the low-scoring senior and Versailles’ Michael Hemmelgarn was randomly drawn for the second.
