Reward set in arson fires

GREENVILLE — Greenville Fire and Police departments are offering a reward for any information leading to solve two arson fires that were set in Greenville in the early morning hours this past Saturday.

Assistant Fire Chief Dave McDermitt said the structure behind 407 E. Fourth St., has been posted for the reward, which can be up to $5,000.

However, the issuance of that reward will be at the discretion of the arson rewards through the Ohio Blue Ribbon Arson Committee.

“The reward will go to the person furnishing the identification and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the fires,” McDermitt said. “It will be given based on the information given, and it can be confidential.”

He went on, “We know it is an arson because that garage has no power to it. And, we investigated a fire of a boat behind 513 Walnut St. at about the same time.”

Those having information can contact the fire department at 937-548-3040 or the Greenville Police Department at 937-548-1103.
