Robert Dean Lewis

GREENVILLE — Robert Dean Lewis, who escaped from the Randolph County, Indiana, Jail on Monday, was captured by a Darke County Sheriff’s deputy Wednesday afternoon.

Lewis was apprehended at approximately 2:10 p.m.

Law enforcement received a call of the possible whereabouts of the black 1990 Ford F-150 pickup truck that had been stolen by Lewis during his escape. It was reported to be in Greenville.

Sheriffs deputies and Greenville Police officers responded to the tip and were able to locate the vehicle. Darke County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Mullen approached Lewis who was standing near the passenger door of the stolen vehicle. When he attempted to flee, Mullen tasered him and took him into custody.

Lewis was transported to the Darke County Jail to be held awaiting extradition back to Randolph County.
