Riegle shoots hole-in-1 in Versailles victory

VERSAILLES – Griffen Riegle made a hole-in-one and led the Versailles boys golf team to a 160-184 Midwest Athletic Conference win against Fort Recovery on Thursday at Stillwater Valley Golf Club.

Riegle, who made a hole-in-one on the par-three No. 9, was the match medalist with a nine-hole round of 36. Also for the Tigers, Nicholas Litten-Stonebraker shot a 40, Kyle Cotner shot a 41, Jacob Watren shot a 43, Michael Hemmelgarn shot a 48, and Connor Custenborder shot a 59.

Chase Burns led Fort Recovery with a 41 while Jackson Hobbs shot a 45, Micaiah Cox shot a 48, Colt Grieshop shot a 50, Austin Faller shot a 52, and Nick Litmer shot a 65.

Versailles improved to 2-0 overall and in the MAC with the win.

The Versailles junior varsity boys golf team picked up its first win of the season against Fort Recovery on Thursday at Stillwater Valley Golf Club, winning 220-227.

Alex Keiser led Versailles with a nine-hole round of 48, Austin Pleiman shot a 52, Alec Ahrens shot a 56, and Brennan Gaier shot a 64.

Calvin Rammel led Fort Recovery with a 50, Austin Pohl shot a 53, Brandon Homan shot a 60, and Aaron Lochtefeld shot a 64.

Versailles’ junior varsity is now 1-2 on the season.

Minster beats Versailles by 1 stroke in MAC match

VERSAILLES – The Versailles girls golf team lost by one stroke, 193-194, to Minster in a Midwest Athletic Conference match on Wednesday at Stillwater Valley Golf Club.

Versailles’ Maddie Covault was the co-medalist as she shot a 45 for the nine-hole round. Also for the Lady Tigers, Lauren Durham shot a 49, Lauren Heitkkamp shot a 49, Jorja Pothast shot a 51, Morgan Heitkamp shot a 55, and Morgan Barlage shot a 79.

Minster’s Alli Fischer was the other co-medalist as she also shot a 45 for the round. Also for the Wildcats, Lisa Borges shot a 48, Hallie Sherman shot a 49, Talyor Homan shot a 51, Sarah Huwer shot a 56, and Hannah Koenig shot a 57.

Greenville girls golf loses match to Troy

TROY – The Greenville girls golf team lost 175-210 to Troy in a match at Miami Shores Golf Course.

Casey Mortensen led Greenville with a nine-hole round of 43. Also for the Lady Wave, Jada Garland shot a 53, Ashley Karns shot a 55, Tori Landis 59, Saki Nakamura shot a 60, and Emily Fulton shot a 62.

Arcanum boys golf defeats Ansonia

GREENVILLE – The Arcanum boys golf team beat Ansonia 190-244 on Thursday at White Springs Golf Course.

Steven Vanatta led Arcanum with a nine-hole round of 40. Also for the Trojans, Justin Hoke shot a 45, Sam Artz shot a 46, Cody Meeks shot a 59, Mitchell Sink shot a 59, and Luke Cetnar shot a 60.

Lane Clark led Ansonia with a round of 57. Also for the Tigers, Trent Rader shot a 58, John Fischer shot a 59, Connor Lee shot a 70, Logan Miller shot a 73, and Zac Longenecker shot a 77.

Arcanum girls golf defeats Tri-Village

ARCANUM – The Arcanum girls golf team beat Tri-Village 221-276 on Thursday at Beechwood Golf Course.

Arcanum’s Franchesca Hackworth led all golfers with a nine-hole round of 53. Also for the Lady Trojans, Haleigh Shaffer shot a 54, Brenna Loxley shot a 55, Madi O’Daniel shot a 59, Chloe Price shot a 62, and Lexi Unger shot a 64.

Emma Campbell led Tri-Village with a round of 64. Also for the Lady Patriots, Jenna Coffman shot a 66, Kina Hill shot a 71, Shelby Frech shot a 75, Becky O’Conner shot a 78, and Julia Mellott shot a 91.

Versailles girls golf wins MAC match

CELINA – The Versailles girls golf team picked up its first Midwest Athletic Conference win of the season on Thursday, defeating Fort Recovery 196-213 at Mercer County Elks Golf Club.

Versailles’ Maddie Covault led all golfers with a nine-hole round of 46. Also for the Lady Tigers, Lauren Heitkamp shot a 48, Jorja Pothast shot a 50, Lauren Durham shot a 52, Morgan Heitkamp shot a 57, and Cierra Miller shot a 71.

Trisha Thien led Fort Recovery with a 50 while Tori Vaughn shot a 51, Elli Keller shot a 54, Cori Stone shot a 58, Emily Bruns shot a 60, and Sophie Timmerman shot an 81.

Versailles improved to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the MAC with the win.
