













MINSTER – The Versailles boys golf team won the Midwest Athletic Conference tournament on Saturday at Arrowhead Golf Club.
Versailles shot a 346 to win the conference tournament by four strokes over runner up St. Henry. Parkway finished third with a 357, Fort Recovery was fourth with a 358, Coldwater finished fifth with a 358, Delphos St. John’s was sixth with a 360, Minster was seventh with a 372, Marion Local finished eighth with a 374, New Knoxville was ninth with a 425, and New Bremen finished 10th with a 518.
By virtue of winning the conference tournament, Versailles tied St. Henry for the 2015 MAC championship. Versailles, with a 7-2 regular season record, entered the tournament in second place in the league standings behind St. Henry, but the tournament victory moved Versailles into the first-place tie.
Jacob Watren led Versailles with an 18-hole round of 82 on Saturday in the MAC meet, making him the individual runner up for the tournament. Also for the Tigers, Nicholas Litten-Stonebraker shot an 87, Kyle Cotner shot an 88, Griffen Riegle shot an 89, Michael Hemmelgarn shot a 107, and Alex Keiser shot a 118.
Coldwater’s Jarren Kunk was the medalist for the MAC tournament with a round of 80 and also was named the MAC boys golfer of the year. Versailles’ Watren finished second in the tournament with his 82 while Coldwater’s Tyler Kanney, Parkway’s Haydon Lyons and St. Henry’s Seth King all tied for third as they each shot an 86.
