COLUMBUS – On Tuesday, Governor John R. Kasich and Lieutenant Governor Mary Taylor issued a resolution recognizing November 11, 2015 as Veterans Day and encouraged all Ohioans to join in recognizing the men and women who have courageously served our nation.

“We live in a land of unparalleled liberty and opportunity, and veterans remind us of the price that has been paid for our freedoms by the courage and valor of generations of American military men and women. We owe each and every veteran a debt of gratitude for their selfless service to our nation – a debt which can never be fully repaid,” said Kasich and Taylor.

The resolution reads:

WHEREAS, President Woodrow Wilson declared Armistice Day on November 11, 1919 to celebrate the service, heroism and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have served our nation in times of war and peace; and

WHEREAS, this willingness to serve has safeguarded the freedoms we hold dear and ensured our nation remains a beacon of hope and liberty to people around the world; and

WHEREAS, we live in a land of unparalleled liberty and opportunity, and veterans remind us of the price that has been paid for our freedoms by the courage and valor of generations of American military men and women; and

WHEREAS, we must also recognize the pain, sacrifice and separation the families of our veterans have endured while their loved ones served our nation; and

WHEREAS, the state of Ohio is proud to be called home by nearly 900,000 veterans and service members – the 6th largest population in the nation; and

WHEREAS, we owe each and every veteran a debt of gratitude for their selfless service to our nation – a debt which can never be fully repaid.

NOW, THEREFORE, We, John R. Kasich and Mary Taylor, Governor and Lieutenant Governor of the State of Ohio, do hereby recognize November 11, 2015 as VETERANS DAY throughout Ohio and encourage all Ohioans to display the American flag and attend special ceremonies and parades held throughout the state to recognize and celebrate the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women who have served our state and nation.

On this 10th day of November 2015
