ST. HENRY – The Versailles baseball team handed St. Henry its first Midwest Athletic Conference loss of the season on Tuesday, winning 2-1.
St. Henry scored first with a run in the bottom half of the first inning. Versailles tied the game in the fourth inning and scored the game-winning run in the seventh.
Versailles had five hits and three errors in the game. St. Henry had four hits and one error.
Brett McEldowney earned the win for Versailles as he pitched the complete game, allowing an unearned run on four hits, one walk and 10 strikeouts.
Brett McEldowney also led the Tiger offense as he went 2-for-3 and scored both of the team’s runs. Austin Knapke was 1-for-3 with a RBI. Kyle Subler and Keaton McEldowney also went 1-for-3 while Cole Niekamp drove in a run.
Versailles improved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in the MAC with the win. St. Henry fell to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the MAC.
