Bradford baseball team beats Botkins, improves to .500

BOTKINS – Three first inning runs propelled the Bradford baseball team to a 3-1 win at Botkins on Saturday.

While all three of Bradford’s runs came in the first inning, Botkins scored its lone run in the third.

Braford had eight hits and two errors while Botkins had four hits and four errors.

Bryant Byers went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Bradford. Walker Branson was 2-for-3 with a double. Chase Gambill also went 2-for-3.

Bryson Canan was 1-for-2. Parker Smith was 1-for-4 and scored a run. Andy Branson and Clay Layman both scored a run.

Andy Branson pitched 6 2/3 innings for Bradford, allowing one run on four hits, four walks and 10 strikeouts. Mason Justice pitched a 1/3 of an inning, allowing no hits or walks.

Bradford improved to 7-7 with the win.
