Erb wins $100,000 Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway

ROSSBURG – Dennis Erb Jr. won the 22nd Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway and its $100,000 prize on Saturday.

In heat one of the UMP Late Models was the 15 of Jon Henry, 777 of Jared Landers and the 1 of Josh Richards were the top three.

Heat two saw the 32P of Bobby Pierce, 33X of Ricky Thornton Jr and the 21B of Chris Brown finish in the top three.

Heat three had C9 of Steve Casebolt, the 39 of Tim McCreadle and 76 of Brandon Overton placed in the top three.

In heat four 6 of Johnathan Davenport, 15L of Darrell Lanigan and the 44M of Chris Madden took the top three. The yellow came out before one lap was even in and then again on lap 13.

In heat five the 28 of Dennis Erb Jr., B5 of Brandon Sheppard and 17M of Dale McDowell finished in the top three. The yellow came out before a lap was completed.

Heat six saw 157 of Mike Marlar, 25C of Shane Clanton and the 20 of Jimmy Owens finish in the top three.

In the B Feature, which consisted of 20 laps, the 5S of Jeep VanWormer won the race while 18 of Shannon Babb and 33 Tim Manville took the second and third place. There was a yellow flag on laps one and six.

In the B Feature 1 Scramble, which had five laps, the winner was the 97 of Michael Chilton followed by the 31 of Nick Latham and rounding out the top three was the 93 of Jay Johnson.

In the B Feature 2 the yellow flag came out on lap one and 11. The winner was the 25 of Jason Feger, 99M of Devin Moran was second, and 28M of Jimmy Mars finished in the top three.

Next came the B Feature 2 Scramble, which the 6m of Wendell Wallace won. Wallace was followed by 11A of Austin Smith and the 15F of Steve Francis to top out the top three.

In the Dirt Late Model Dream this race consisted of 100 laps. The winner of this race was the 28 of Dennis Erb Jr. He was followed by the 1 of Josh Richards, and the 17M of Dale McDowell rounded out the top three. Erb Jr retook the lead for the last time with 11 laps left and defended himself after a yellow flag at the end of the race, giving him the win for $100,000. This race went through eight yellow flags during laps eight, 27, 34, 38, 43, 69, 92 and 99. The win for Erb was a battle as he fought back and forth but started gaining his lead toward the end, thinking he had it won until the lap 99 caution came out and worried him for a few minutes until he pulled it off again for the win.
