Ohio releases sexual assault survey of college students

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio officials say all public colleges and universities and nearly 9 in 10 private colleges in the state administered a climate survey intended to gather baseline information for improving sexual violence prevention and response on college campuses.

Survey results released Thursday were gathered for the Ohio Department of Higher Education’s Changing Campus Culture initiative. The state has allotted $2 million through the effort to help colleges and universities tackle the issue.

Community-technical college students reported being most confident their institutions will take the survey seriously.

Private colleges had the highest percentage of students, over 40 percent, reporting they’d already taken training on sexual assault-related policies. That compared to 33 percent for public universities and 23 percent for community colleges.

Known sexual assaults were highest among public university students.
