Versailles moves up in AP girls basketball state rankings

COLUMBUS – Versailles moved up one spot while Tri-Village maintained its spot in the Associated Press’ girls basketball state rankings.

Versailles moved up to No. 7 in Division III, moving ahead of Findlay Liberty-Benton, in the fifth weekly poll of the 2016-17 season. The Tigers remained ranked behind Cincinnati Summit Country Day, Archbold, Columbiana, Fort Recovery, Columbus Africentric and Columbus Grove. Versailles has been ranked in all five polls this season, ranging from third to eighth.

For a third consecutive week Tri-Village is ranked second behind Berlin Hiland in Division IV. The Patriots received four first-place votes this week, which is down from last week’s season high of five. Tri-Village has been ranked in each poll this season, ranging from second to fourth.

A number of other schools with local connections are ranked this week. Tippecanoe from the Greater Western Ohio Conference is ranked No. 7 in Division II, Trotwood-Madison from the GWOC is ranked No. 8 in Division II, Fort Recovery from the Midwest Athletic Conference is ranked No. 4 in Division III, and Minster from the MAC is ranked No. 6 in Division IV.
