Greenville sophomore Jacob Mikesell wins match at OHSAA district wrestling tournament

WILMINGTON – Greenville sophomore Jacob Mikesell won his opening round match at the Ohio High School Athletic Association Division II wrestling district tournament to highlight the Green Wave’s performance.

Greenville had five wrestlers compete at the district tournament this weekend, and they all concluded their seasons.

Trailing late in the opening round of the 132 pound class, Mikesell pinned Circleville junior Mason Downs with just nine seconds remaining to win his first match. The Green Wave sophomore then lost an 11-0 major decision to Western Brown junior Jordan Hamblin and was pinned in 2:39 by Monroe sophomore Reuben Cohen.

Junior Austin Lacey lost a 9-1 major decision to Kenton Ridge junior Bryce Davis and then lost 9-3 to Norwood junior Jasper Johnson in the 113 pound division.

Sophomore Jacob Goldsmith lost 9-5 to Wyoming senior Noah Pitman and then was pinned in 51 seconds by Washington Court House junior Zane Nelson in the 145 pound division.

Senior Christian Chalmers was pinned in 1:37 by Batavia junior Daniel Greiner and then lost a 17-7 major decision to Alter sophomore Antwann Martin in the 170 pound class.

Freshman Zane Mancillas was pinned in 1:32 by Wilmington senior R.J. Tolliver and then lost a 12-3 major decision to Mount Healthy junior Jamonte Crossty.
