GREENVILLE — Four people appeared in Darke County Common Pleas Court between Tuesday and Wednesday. Judge Jonathan P. Hein presided.
John M. Merideth, 41, of Greenville, appeared in court to be arraigned on one count of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony, and one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony. If convicted, he faces a maximum prison sentence of 19 to 24 and a half years, and a maximum fine of $35,000. Merideth retained his previous lawyer and pleaded not guilty to the charges. His bond was set at $25,000 cash, surety, or property, and his next appearance is scheduled for Jan. 13.
Devin B. Meade, 22, of Greenville, appeared for a violation of his in “lieu of conviction,” (ILC) sentencing on a three count indictment from 2017 citing trafficking drugs, a fifth-degree felony, aggravated trafficking in drugs, a fourth-degree felony, and counterfeit controlled substances, a fifth-degree felony. As a part of an ILC sentencing, the defendant offers a guilty plea that the court holds for future proceedings in the event that ILC conditions are broken. If found to be in violation, Meade faces a maximum prison sentence of three and a half years, and a maximum fine of $10,000. He was appointed public defender David Rohrer, and his bond was set at $15,000 cash, surety or property. He is scheduled for a probable cause hearing on Jan. 29.
Steven E. Yoder, 43, of Greenville, was alleged to have violated his community control sanctions on a 2019 case citing aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony. It was alleged that Yoder failed to abstain from illegal drug use, failed to comply with treatment recommendations, and failed to report to his probation officer. If found in violation, he faces a maximum prison sentence of 9 months. Yoder denied the allegations and was appointed public defender David Rohrer. His bond was set at $10,000 cash, surety, or property and his next appearance is scheduled for Jan. 29.
Jack G. Daniels, 30, of Greenville, appeared in court for a violation of his community control sanctions on two separate cases. The first, aggravated possession of drugs, a fifth-degree felony, and the second, possession of a fentanyl related compound, a fourth-degree felony. The adult probation department in Darke County alleged that Daniels failed to report to his probation officer, and failed to comply with drug and alcohol treatment. If found in violation, Daniels faces 12 months incarceration served concurrently, less jail time already served. Daniels denied the allegations and was appointed public defender Matthew Pierron. His bond, for all cases, was set at $25,000 cash, surety or property. Daniels’ next appearance is scheduled for Jan. 28.
