GREENVILLE — Commissioners approved a $26,683.02 quote to fix the Law Library. Commissioner Matt Aultman and Marshall Combs were present.

Commissioner Combs said that weather and age have contributed to the need for repairs.

“As the county prepares to move offices and continues to make updates, this is a must to get it sealed up from the weather,” Aultman said. “It is going to be jointly done as we replace a header and a window at the same time on that building.”

The over $26,000 quote the commissioners approved and accepted was the lowest quote out of the three they received. GMT Roofing out of Greenville was awarded the job for the removal of the old roof, installation of the new roof, materials, and clean up. Kremer Roofing, Inc provided a quote of $33,527, and Ohio & Indiana Roofing out of St. Henry also provided a quote for $37,299.

The commissioners also proceeded to approve the transfer of appropriations for various projects. A total of $841,121 was transferred from the other operating fund into the machine and equipment plus $5,000 fund to cover contracts for aviation fuel system at the County Airport for the Darke County Commissioners. They also approved a transfer for the Darke County Juvenile and Probate Court to cover office supply costs and salary for the remainder of the 2024 year. $500 was transferred from the court cost fund into the office supply fund, and $6,616 was transferred from other operating to the FT Salary fund.

Keeping up with expenses, the commissioners also made their monthly “child support payment” to the Job & Family Services for Children Service Support for Sept. 2024. This is a monthly payment the commissioners provide for $60,854.75.

Susan Laux received a certificate of appointment to the community development and grants administrator position within the county. This is a full time position with an effective date of Sept. 9. Commissioner Combs said he is looking forward to Laux joining, and he also welcomed the new Darke County Commissioners Assistant Clerk/Secretary, Erin Lester.

Lester started in the office Sept. 3, and is preparing to be in the office as a full time employee in anticipation of Clerk Robin Blinn’s retirement at the end of the year. The commissioners wish to welcome her into the office, and wish her luck as she begins her journey with them.

The commissioners meet every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. for their Regular Session in the Administrative Building: 520 S Broadway. These meetings are open and welcome to the public.
