The 2024 Harvest Extravaganza is a must-attend fall event that takes place on a picturesque countryside farm at 5207 Weavers Ft Jefferson Rd Greenville, on Saturday, September 23rd 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, September 24th 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This innovative market provides rustic gifts, furniture, and home décor all in one vibrant place with 75 carefully selected vendors. Vendors have a lot of vintage styles ranging from farmhouse to industrial and from mid-century to primitive. Handmade goods include jewelry, imaginative home décor, spa-style bath goodies, and candles, as well as boutique clothing, mums, pumpkins and all things fall and Christmas. Indulge yourself with tasty treats from local food trucks and vendors, including pork chop sandwiches, BBQ, wood fired pizza and breadsticks, fried chicken, ice cream, kettle corn, and baked goods. The soulful sounds of live bluegrass music will fill the fall air with talented musicians, Tony Hale and Blackwater on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Justin Hoke and Company on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m.
The Harvest Extravaganza promises to be a memorable experience for all attendees. Whether you’re a fall enthusiast, a lover of unique finds, or simply looking for a fun day out, this event offers a delightful blend of entertainment, shopping, and delicious food. Come out to the country and enjoy an afternoon of shopping and supporting your local community. All parking donations go to Pleasant Hill Church of God. Organizers are Sarah Baker and Kelly Moore.
Family Health Services of Darke County family medicine physician of Arcanum, Dr. Heidi Yount, has been awarded the Theodore E. Wymyslo, MD, OPCWI Preceptor of the Year Award for 2024. This prestigious honor, presented by the Ohio Association of Community Health Centers (OACHC), recognizes Dr. Yount’s exceptional commitment to mentoring and training the next generation of healthcare providers. Additionally, Dr. Yount has been elected as the vice speaker of the Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP) board of directors, a testament to her leadership and dedication to the field of family medicine. Dr. Yount will be formally recognized for her achievements at the OACHC Fall Conference Sept. 26-27 in Columbus. Congratulations, Dr. Yount!
Are you a history buff? The Lewisburg Historical Society invites the community to join them for a Wagon Ride around Lewisburg on September 21st at 12:30 p.m. or 3 p.m. Cost is $10 adults with children under ten free. The tour will include some facts and unwritten tales about twenty-one landmarks and some of their oldest homes from the 1800s as well as a stop-off at Euphemia for some apple cider and cookies with a visit to Brower’s Log Cabin. Congratulations to our Arcanum High School Marching Band. They received first in class C out of five bands at the Troy Trojan Invitational Marching Band Contest. They also were named best percussion in class C. The band was second overall. Excellent job and way to lead the Trojan Way! Go Trojans!
Grab your friends, flannels, and fuzzy socks because fall is here! Nothing will get you more prepared for fall than visiting the Bear’s Mill Fall Open House on Saturday October 12th and
Sunday October 13th from 11-5. You will be able to stroll through the property soaking in all the colors, sounds, and smells of autumn in Ohio. The Bears Mill Annual Fall Open House is always a crowd pleaser! There will also be special music on Saturday provided by Danny Schneible followed by Adam Stall. Sunday’s live music will start with Bill Westfall and Cindy Slick and end with Noah Back. Bear’s Mill is located just eight miles north of Arcanum at 6450 Arcanum-Bears Mill Road.
Healthy Cooking classes will be held at the Arcanum Public Library for 10 weeks on Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m. They will run from September 12th – November 14th. There will be a variety of topics, and food will be prepared and tasted at each class. Insta-pot and Air fryer recipes will also be featured. Call the library at 937-692-8484 or drop in to add your name to the list to ensure we have adequate supplies for all participants. Patrons can sign up for individual classes, or for multiple classes. APL is located at 101 West North Street in Arcanum.
In 2022, with the help of the community twelve (12) trees were planted in Ivester Park and are growing nicely. The Village offices are excited to release information for those wanting to help the tree replenishment in Ivester Park for 2024. This year individuals have the option to donate in monetary increments, or by being a Platinum Sponsor purchasing an entire tree. Order forms are available online at www.villageofarcanum.com or can be picked up at the Village Administration Office.
